[Resolved] Humming sound from transmission

  • I can hear minor vibration/rattle sound from the dashboard or transmission area

    Situation 1

    Put hand-break on
    Engage Gear 1
    Release clutch half way

You will hear the vibration from transmission

    Situation 2

I am driving 40 km speed
    I am on 3rd Gear
You will hear vibration sound from under the dashboard
Sound goes away if i switch to 2nd Gear

Have you ever faced this situation?

  • Situation 1 :
Of course you'll hear the rattle sound, your clutch is slipping.

    Situation 2 :
It happens because your engine running below it's optimal torque zone. every car will faces this problem. When you switch to 2nd gear, your engine is back to it's optimal torque zone, so the engine runs well again.

    I agree with your comment

    but

my previous car was swift with G13B engine and there was no such vibration. The engine would just turn off.

Are you saying that the rattle sound is coming from clutch housing and getting passed on to the dash board?

  • i don't know exactly where the sounds came from, maybe its caused by a different clutch mechanism, your swift is using a mechanical clutch right (using cables)? as brio use a hydraulic mechanism.
